Politics Senate Rejects Ibrahim Magu as EFCC Chair

The Nigerian Senate has rejected the nomination of Ibrahim Magu’s as Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commissio, EFCC.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Media and Public Affairs, who addressed journalists after a closed-door session on Thursday, said the rejection was based on “security report.”

“The Senate wish to inform the public that based on available security report, the Senate cannot proceed with confirmation of Ibrahim Magu as the Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

“The nomination of Ibrahim Magu is hereby rejected and has been returned to the President for further action,” Mr. Abdullahi said

He said the rejection would be communicated to President Muhammadu Buhari to take further action.

Meanwhile, shortly after his rejection, Mr Ibrahim Magu left the National Assembly Complex.
