Reports have emerged that the Super Eagles players refused to train over the non-payment of their allowances for qualifying for the second round of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

The Super Eagles were scheduled to train at the Estádio Brinco de Ouro but the training did not hold as they had a stormy meeting with the Nigeria Football Federation over bonuses issues.

Media Officer of the Super Eagles,Ben Alaiya was quoted to have confirmed that the players had a meeting with the NFF,although he did not give details of their meeting agenda.

NFF pays $10,000 for each win and $5,000 for any draws that the team plays at the World Cup.

But it is understood that the players wanted to be paid $30,000 each for qualifying for the next round, despite losing their last game to Argentina.

Bonuses have always been the bane of African football, with players always threatening their respective federations at international tournaments to down tools if their demands are not met.

Only two days ago,the Ghanaian government had to airlift $3million to Brazil after the Black Stars threatened to boycott their last game against Portugal if they were not paid their appearance fees.

The Cameroonian players were the first Africans to tow that path, initially refusing to even travel to Brazil for the World Cup

The Super Eagles are due to leave their Campinas base on Friday for Brasilia where they will play against France on Monday.
