Sports Super Falcons hoping to reclaim African Women Championship title

Nigeria's Super Falcons will today begin their quest to reclaim the African Women's Championship(AWC) title.

Since the AWC was inaugurated, the Super Falcons have been the most successful, winning eight out of the ten tournaments hosted on the continent.

The last edition was the first time that the Super Falcons have finished anything lower than a second position.

The 11th edition of the AWC will today commence in Namibia, and Nigeria will be playing its first group game against Ivory Coast.

Nigeria is in the same group with the host nation,Namibia, with Zambia and Ivory Coast the other group members.

Super Falcons coach Edwin Okon is confident in their abilities to excel, adding that they are taking each game as they come.

“We’ve decided to take the games one at a time so we’re not thinking of any other opponents than Ivory Coast,” Okon said earlier this week.
