Sports Two Nigerian teams lose opening games at the Beach Volleyball championship

It was not a good start for Nigeria at the Federation of International Volleyball (FIVB) U-21 Male and Female Beach Volleyball World Championships with both the male and female teams losing their opening games.

The Nigerian teams were beaten in their first games and will now have to win subsequent matches in other to stand a chance of progressing at the tournament taking place in Larnaka, Cyprus.

Nigeria's male team was beaten by the host country,Cyprus who secured a 2-0 victory over them winning 11-21, 11-21.

The female team fared better but still ended up on the losing 2-0 like their male counterparts.

Austria defeated the Nigerian ladies 16-21, 16-21.

The Nigerian male team will next play against Kazakhstan before taking on Norway tomorrow and other games against Switzerland and African neighbours Niger Republic.

Nigeria's female team appears to have a tougher fixture,they will play against Japan,Mexico,Brazil and Italy.
