Chieftains of the People's Redemption Party (PRP) and National Conscience Party (NCP), Mallam Balarabe Musa and Mr. Yunusa Tanko in separate interviews by Sahara TV have stated that they'd betray their own cause if they merged with the All Progressives Congress (APC) because they all have different ideologies and core objectives.

Balabare said the objectives and goals of the merged parties, APC which it submitted to INEC to enable it register was not clear enough for other credible parties to buy into the idea. Hence, the PRP could not sacrifice its objective to join the merger. He also said APC may not be able to defeat the PDP in 2015 election due to its lack of credible parties' participation.

Balarabe suggested a third-force may emerge, perhaps made up of the credible parties that may be led by the Labour party, which will make it divide votes that should go into one opposition against the PDP.

For the NCP, Yunusa Tanko said the NCP is only the party with pro-masses (youths, women and disabled people) agenda which and could not betray its own course for the merger. Yunusa said if there existed another party who had the same interests and core value with them, then a merger with that party will be possible.
