The Lagos State Police Command arrested one Basira Alabi for the alleged abduction of Divine, a five year old girl. Alabi is neither a friend nor family member of the abducted five year old and abducted the victim during the end of session party on Friday.
Two passengers on a commercial vehicle to Okokomaiko became suspicious of Alabi when they saw both suspect and victim on the vehicle. There seemed to be no familiarity or affection between Alabi and Divine
The bus driver stopped when tension in the bus had reached its apex. The passengers became more suspicious when Divine was being pulled by Alabi because she seemed unwilling to follow the unknown woman. The passengers subsequently alerted the Police.
At the Police station, when alibi claimed that Divine was her daughter; she was asked to give the name of the child but kept quiet. Divine was asked if she knew the number of her mother, which she did and was given a phone to call her mother, who was then told to come and pick her daughter at the Okokomaiko Police Station.
