Del Bosque - Copy.webp The 2014 #WorldCup is getting ever closer and we now have just twelve days before the first game between hosts Brazil and Croatia.

As is expected lots of events have been happening in the lead up to the tournament, and most countries have been busy with their preparations and announcement of final lists for the competition.

Let's take a look at some of the things that had happened in the last 24 hours:

Diego Costa in Spain's World Cup squad:
The fitness of Atletico Madrid striker,Diego #Costa has been shrouded in controversies and it was with mixed reactions that people received the news of his inclusion.

Playing just nine minutes of the #ChampionsLeague final against #RealMadrid last week,Costa didn't look like he has fully recovered from the injury he sustained in the final league game against Barcelona.

But Vicente Del Bosque who delayed the announcement, trusts that Costa has fully recovered and included him in his team.

Fernando Torres also made the team, while Alvaro Negredo and his Manchester City teammate Jesus Navas were left out.

Nevertheless,Spain's final 23-man list looks the hot favourites to still retain their title.

Holland:
Louis Van Gaal equally named his own squad for the World Cup on Saturday. It is a very young squad that has minimal experience.

The major criticism centered on the team is that most of the players are relatively unknown and could capitulate when the chips are down.

Most of the players chosen by #VanGaal plays in the Dutch Eredivise and not much has been seen of them globally.

But Holland has always been a World Cup team, and in Robin #VanPersie,Arjen Robben and Wesley Sneijder, they still have enough in their ranks to stand up against their competitors.

Messi to shine
Former Argentine football great,Osvaldo ‘Ossie’ Ardiles has backed #LionelMessi to lead his country to glory.

Ardiles who was part of the Argentine team the won the 1978 World Cup on homesoil, believes that this tournament in Brazil,is one that Messi will blossom in.

“This time, Lionel Messi will give the performance we expect of him, I’m sure of that,”Ardiles told fifa.com “He played excellently in the qualifiers and shouldered his responsibilities brilliantly - he was our main goalscorer and one of the most decisive players on the pitch. Until midway through this past season he was carrying an injury that he picked up at the end of the previous campaign, but I can see he’s gradually getting back to his best. I reckon he is determined to have an amazing tournament, both on an individual and team level.”

Forlan wants Suarez to be ready:
Uruguayan legend #DiegoForlan has revealed that he would want his teammate #LuisSuarez to be fit and ready for the World Cup.

Suarez is a major doubt after he underwent a surgery in his knee last week, but they hope that he will recover in time for their second game against England.

"I want the whole team to be healthy and ready for the World Cup so I want Luis to be back and ready for that," Forlan told Press Association Sport.

"That would be much better for all of us. Luis came to the training ground in the morning to see us. We haven't seen him for a week so it was nice to have him around again. He told us he is in good shape and recovering well and his treatment has been good. Everybody wants him to be ready."
