Former Vice President and 2023 Presidential Candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has refuted allegations of certificate forgery. The controversy emerged regarding his secondary school certificate, specifically the name "Sadiq Abubakar" on his WAEC certificate, in contrast to his other credentials. Atiku's media aide, Chief Dele Momodu, addressed these allegations in a post on his Twitter account.

According to Momodu, Atiku clarified the matter by explaining that he used the name "Sadiq Abubakar" to sit for his WAEC exams. After passing, he swore an affidavit attesting to his identity as "Atiku Abubakar." He proceeded to the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU) and passed his exams, interviewed as "Atiku Abubakar" by the Federal Civil Service Commission, and was hired into the Customs Service under the same name.

In Atiku's words, "So where is forgery there?"

This statement came in response to allegations of forgery raised against Atiku by members of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the ruling party in Nigeria. The controversy led to speculation and a series of questions from social media users. Atiku's response aims to address these concerns and provide clarification regarding his academic records.
