Nigeria's political scene is dramatic. The course of events recently and overtime have made it look like a centre stage with political actors acting the script, most especially that has got to do with wars between ruling and opposition parties.
1. Nyesome Wike: Barrister Nyesome Wike is the current governor of Rivers state. He clinched on to power under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. Wike is known to be the 'strong force' of the South-South, challenging the Federal mights at different courts.
2. Lai Mohammed: Lai Mohammed is Nigeria's Minister of Information and Culture. Before his Ministerial appointment, Lai was the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress. He is known for his strong defence of his party and terribly outlash at the then opposition party, PDP. Now in power, Lai seems no different, coming out strong always in defence of his principals, even when things are obviously wrong. For his outspokeness and controversial nature, he has been renamed 'Lie', 'Liar' Mohammed.
3. Ayodele Fayose: Peter Ayodele Fayose is the second time governor of Ekiti after he was sent out of office in 2010. A grassroot politician, Fayose won the hearts of Ekiti residents and made his way to the highest state's seat for the second time – becoming the first Ekiti man to be a governor twice. Fayose is wont for his controversial theatrics, and who puts President Buhari on his toes. The PDP governor never ceased to pick on Buhari even before he became Nigeria's President. During the electioneering campaign, Fayose is quoted to have said Nigeria is tired of state burials, and having old men as Presidents – a comment that is interpreted to mean President Buhari may die in office. His recent lash at the Presidency was at Buhari's wife, Aisha Buhari on an alleged role in Haliburton scandal.
4. Rochas Okorocha: Rochas Owelle Okorocha, the second-term governor of Imo state is a staunch suppoter of his party, the All Progressives Congress. Governor Okorocha is known for his intimidation against the state workers. He has in recent times threatened state workers of sack and also among state governor that finds it difficult to workers' salaries. His people believes that Okorocha is among those South East prominent leaders who wouldn't want the Biafra agitation to succeed. Recently, Governor Okorocha jettisoned his 2019 ambition because of President Muhamamdu Buhari anti-corruption war.
5. Nasir El-Rufai: Mallam Nasir El-Rafai is the governor of Kaduna state. As popular as the Mallam is, so also is his controversial status. The former FCT Minister, who is renowned for the massive demolition of Abuja structure that renders many homeless is now toeing the line in the State.
El-rufai recently marked over 10,000 Houses, School and Churches for demolition in the state, also is the Anti religious bill, that still awaits Lawmakers' approval. Many critics view his administration as Anti Christian government in the State and his headache has always been the popular Socialist Senator, Shehu Sani, who keeps close tab on his government. The State came under tension last year with the Zaria Massacre, with the whole world carefully monitoring the affairs of the Commission set up to look into the remote and immediate causes of the massacre.
6. Rauf Aregbesola:It has been 6 years that Osun state governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has been steering the affairs of the state. He was returned to office in November 27, 2014 for a second term. So many things can be said to be wrong with Ogbeni's 6 year old administration in the state and earned him a controversial status. This includes running government without commissioners, no local government elections, the recent hijab crisis, backlog of workers' salaries among others.
7. Dino Melaye: The Kogi-born Senator never cease to be dramatic in the legislative chambers and the nation's political scene. He recently slugged it out with Senator Oluremi Tinubu and allegedly made life-threatening comments.
8. Abdul Munin Jibrin: Abdul munin Jibrin, the whistle blower of Nigeria's House of Representatives has recently been in the news. His outspokeness has exposed the loop holes in Nigeria's legislative chambers with government expenditure. The allegation of budget-padding, levelled against the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara and three other officers, by former chairman of the House of Representatives Appropriation Committee, Abdulmumin Jibrin, and the denial and counter-accusation there from, have reinforced the escalating degeneration of lawmaking in the National Assembly, and with Jibrin not backing out.
9. Aminu Bello Masari: If not for anything, Governor Masari of Katsina state was few weeks ago hit by Nigerian social media for his empowerment scheme of distributing 720 high breed of goats worth N104 million to 240 women. This is calculated to be N144, 000 for a goat. He said that each of the 240 women selected across the 34 local governments would be given two female goats and one male goat. Also, Masari recently came under heavy criticism following the news which disclosed that he allegedly purchased 3,000 coffins for the sum of N40,000 each and proceeded to distribute to mosques in the state.
10. Femi Fani Kayode: If not for anything, Femi Fani Kayode is controversial for his vitroiloc comments on President Mohammadu Buhari. The former Aviation Minister has not ceased to make distasteful conclusions about the President with statements whose substance or credibility have not been ascertained.
