6 persons were reported dead in Maiduguri during the Presidential campaign of Muhammadu Buhari, presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC; NATIONAL MIRROR reports.
Thousands of party supporters, mostly youths, had lined up along major roads in Maiduguri as early as 7a.m. on Monday to catch a glimpse of the APC presidential candidate. A stampede then ensured leading to the deaths; 12 persons also sustained injuries.
Security operatives had to fire shots and tear gas into the air to organize the crowd. The rally, however was abruptly interrupted due to failure to control the crowd.
