Intelligence reports have shown that Al-Qaeda is trying to convince Americans and other Western fighters in Syria to undertake its special training to prepare them to return to their home countries and carry out attacks on their (Al-Qaeda’s) behalf.
This was in a statement by US officials to CNN. There is growing concern that the mayhem in Syria provides a good cover for the terrorist network to recruit, plot and train foreign operatives to attack the US homeland.
There is also growing fear that apart from Americans, other Europeans may currently be targeted, a potential threat seeing as they do not need visas to enter the United States.
