Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has till 2017 to fulfill his campaign promises, Mr. Mike Igini a former Resident Electoral Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Edo State, has stated.

Lamenting the level of poverty in the country, he urged FG to tackle the economic problems facing the country while fighting corruption.

“The belief and faith in democracy is on what it can achieve. All those elected into public offices have only one year, five months to perform. The truth is that 2018 is a campaign year while 2019 is for elections.

“So, they have till 2017 to fulfil their electoral promises. Consequently, looking at what is available, one should look at the law and see how we can tackle our economic problems while also fighting corruption.”
