The Ogun state police command has issued a statement stating why it charged Mr. Joachim Iroko, the man who reportedly named his dog "Buhari" to court.
The police said Iroko was arrested following a complaint from his neighbor accusing him of inscribing "Buhari," , on both sides of the dog with the knowledge that it was his father's name.
Police said Mr. Iroko admitted to the allegations, and decided to charge him to court when efforts to settle the matter amicably failed.
The case had nothing to do with the presidency, the police said.
