Sports Commonwealth Games update: Nigeria wins two gold medals in Wrestling,now in 8th position

Team Nigeria on Wednesday moved up to eight position on the medal table courtesy of the impressive showings of the wrestling team at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow,Scotland.

Nigeria won two gold medals in the wrestling event and continued their push to finish the Games on a high.

Odunayo Adekuoroye beat India’s Lalita after recording a 5-0 win on the board to emerge the gold medal winner in the women’s 53kg freestyle.

Adekuroye needed just 31 seconds to knock out her Indian opponent to clinch the win.

The second gold for Nigeria was won by Aminat Adeniyi who had a one-way traffic beating another Indian wrestler Sakshi Malik by as much as 12-0 to emerge victorious.

Nigeria now has six gold medals,five silver and six bronze medals,totalling nineteen medals so far.

South Africa is the highest ranked African team in seventh position with Nigeria closely following them on eight,and Kenya the third highest ranked African team in ninth position.
