Sports Copa Lagos championship: Super Sand Eagles beat Black Sharks 7-5

Nigeria's Super Sand Eagles started the defence of their Copa Lagos title with a victory over their West African neighbours, Ghana in the Beach Soccer competition.

The Nigerian team defeated the Ghanaians 7-5 to secure their first win of the competition at the Eko Atlantic City on Friday.

It was not straight forward for Nigeria, although they started brightly with an early 4-1 lead, but the Ghanaians clawed their way back and at a stage levelled at 4-4.

But Nigeria's experience on the circuit paid off as they held off the challenge to seal the win over their opponents.

Nigeria has won the previous edition of the title and began their defence with a win over their west African counterpart yesterday.

The Super Sand Eagles will now go up against Ivory Coast while Ghana will square up against Senegal in their second game today.

In the club friendly matches: FC Barcelona defeated Pepsi Academy 7-4 while Enyimba pipped Stationery Stores 1-0 .
