Sports Defending champion Andy Murray knocked out of Wimbledon Open

Murray (2).jpg Andy Murray became the latest casualty to be knocked out of the Wimbledon Open after he lost his second round match on Centre court.

The defending champion was comprehensively beaten in straight sets 6-1, 7-6, 6-2 by Grigor Dimitrov.

It is the first time since 2008 that Murray has failed to make the last four of the Wimbledon Open.

"I'm excited, just happy I went through that match in straight sets. It's never easy against Andy, especially with a home crowd," Dimitrov said.

"It's a tough feeling when you know the person and you have to face on the court like that."

This is the first time that Dimitrov has qualified for the semifinal of a Grand Slam tournament.
