Metro Election Tribunal in Ondo Upholds Lawmakers Election

The 2015 Ondo State Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Akure today upheld the election of a lawmaker representing Akoko North East constituency and deputy speaker of the State House of Assembly, Mr Fatai Olotu.

The three member panel led by Justice Obojor Ogar validated Olotu's re-election after nullifying a petition brought by Mr Muyiwa Ogunyemi of the APC on the ground that the petition breach the 2010 Electoral Act as amended.

Reacting to the ruling, counsel to the APC, Dr Tunji Abayomi vowed to challenge the tribunal's decision at the appellate court.

Report had it that the tribunal also upheld the election of the house majority leader, Mr Ifedayo Akinsoyinu of the PDP from Ondo West constituency two, and that of another PDP lawmaker, Mr Tuyi Akintimehin representing Idanre constituency.

The elections of a lawmaker from Ondo East constituency, Mr Siji Akindiose of the PDP and that of a member from Ondo West Constituency one, Femi Adeniyi were also validated by the tribunal.
