Sports FIFA lifts ban on Franz Beckenbauer

Football world governing body, FIFA, has lifted its interim ban imposed on Franz Beckenbauer early this month for refusing to assist in an investigation of a committee enquiry, his management has announced.

In a statement released by his management, Marcus Hofl Management,it also stated that Beckenbauer will not be attending the World Cup in Brazil.

"FIFA informed Franz Beckenbauer on Friday 27th June 2014 that the provisional suspension, which was pronounced at 13th of June, terminates with immediate effect.

"Separate from the decision of FIFA, MHM as management and the partners of Franz Beckenbauer decided that Franz Beckenbauer will not travel to the World Cup."

Beckenbauer had won the World Cup in 1974 with West Germany as a player and also as a coach in 1990 and he remains an iconic in the footballing world.
