Sports Ghana FA shortlists Patrick Kluivert, Avram Grant and three others for Black Stars job

Former Barcelona player Patrick Kluivert and former Chelsea coach Avram Grant are the front-runners to be named as the new coach of the Black Stars of Ghana national team.

The Ghana Football Association(GFA) have shortlisted both Kluivert and Grant,alongside and three others as candidates to be named as their coach.

Kwesi Appiah stepped down as Ghana coach after guiding the Black Stars to a 3-2 victory over Togo in the 2015 Nations Cup,but a backlog of problems with the GFA that dates back to 2014 World Cup tournament ensured that he was sidelined.

The three other coaches shortlisted by the Ghana FA to replace Appiah are: Marco Tardelli, Juan Ignacio Jimenez and Michel Pont.

The GFA announced that the five men have been lined up for interviews after their 2015 Nations Cup qualifiers next week.

"Pont, Kluivert and Tardelli will arrive in Accra to be interviewed on 17th October," the GFA announced.

"Grant and Jimenez will be interviewed on 18th October.

"Meanwhile two coaches have been placed on standby in the event one or some of the above listed are not readily available.

"The two coaches on the standby list are Bernd Schuster and Ricardo Gareca."
