Nigeria's homebased Eagles defeated the Black Meteors of Ghana 1-0 to win the Transformation Cup on Friday.

Emem Eduok's goal made all the difference in the game, striking in the goal that won the game for Nigeria in his home state.

The Akwa Ibom State government opened the stadium on Friday, with the game between Nigeria and Ghana being the first to take place there.

Assistant coach of the Super Eagles, Daniel Amokachi in the absence of Stephen Keshi took charge of the team, tinkering the homebased Eagles in the match.

The Nigerian team were dominant, emerging tops in all departments of the encounter on the night.

Sunshine Stars defender Solomon Kwambe hooked in a cross in the Ghanaian box, and Eduok was right on hand to head Nigeria into the lead and send the fans into delirium.

Eduok caused Ghana problems, constantly running into channels to make things happen for his side, and his contribution showed why he has notched twenty goals for Dolphins this season.

His partnership with Mfon Udoh, the highest goalscorer in the local league, almost conjured up something for the Eagles in the second half.

Eduok picked out a perfect cross to the Enyimba striker, but his one time jab came off the crossbar.

Ghana were reduced to ten men late on in the game after Richard Yamoah was sent off for a dangerous play on Tony Edjomariegwe, but the game was almost over then, and it didn't influence the outcome of the game.
