Prince Kole Aladetoyinbo was selected on Sunday to fill the traditional seat while the former is still alive. Prince Adesina Adepoju was deposed on June 10, 2010 on allegations that he beat his wife who later died in 2012. The protesters who came from the Osupa ruling house, same as the dynasty of the new appointee demands that the state government ignore the selection and halt the installation process. They demanded that the deposed Deji should be reinstated instead.

One of the members of the ruling family who spoke with Punch correspondent said that the selection of a new Deji, when the deposed was still alive violated the culture and tradition of Akure land. However, the Spokesperson for the Akure Kingmakers, who is also the Asamo of Akure, Chief Rotimi Olusanya said nothing would stop the installation process of the new Deji.

It would be recalled after deposing Prince Adepoju, another Deji was installed, Oba Adebiyi Adesida but he died in December 2013 and the seat became vacant again. This perhaps was the agitation of the protesters that the deposed Deji be reinstated to save the Akure town from crisis.
