Presidential Spokesman, Shehu Garba, has reacted to rumors making the rounds that National Youth Service Corps, NYSC has been scrapped, along with post-UTME.
Garba said the rumors were untrue.
“NYSC is a creation of the law. Only another law can repeal it,” Shehu said. He didn't mention anything about the scrapping of post-UTME.
Education Minister, Adamu Adamu, had announced last week that post-UTMEs won't be conducted in tertiary institutions again.
The rumors about scrapping NYSC arose following the delay in the commencement of the orientation exercise of batch A youth corpers.
NYSC was established since 1975 by then Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (retd).
