Sports Reading FC to Dump Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Three Others at the end of the season

Reading manager, Steve Clark has sacked Nigeria's Yakubu Aiyegbeni and three others as part of his plans to overhaul his team at the end of the season.

The three other players are Zat Knight, Danny Guthrie, Jure Travner and Mikkel Andersen owing to the fact that they could help the team move up on the championship league table.

Yak, as he's fondly called scored just one goal in seven games for the 19th place Reading, who joined the Madejski based outfit from Qatari side Al Rayyan.

"As we enter our third year out of the Premier League, the club's owners recognise the need for Steve Clarke to freshen his squad ahead of the new campaign, and this is the beginning of that process,” an official club statement read.

"After a period of financial instability and with the Financial Fair Play regulations in place, the owners are also making a concerted effort to get back to the sensible wage principles that have long been the club's trademark.

"Striking the right balance will be key to a sustainable model for success."
