Sports Super Eagles Camp: Captain Joseph Yobo assures they will not be distracted over bonus issues

Norwich City defender Joseph Yobo has assured Nigerians that the Super Eagles bonus standoff will not distract them when they file out against France on Monday.

The nation's senior national team boycotted training to demand for their bonuses before embarking on the journey to Brasilia,venue of the game against France on Monday.

Nigeria players with that action on Thursday,towed the path of Cameroon and Ghana who had a running battle with their federations over the payment of their bonus allowances.

"We are football players, this is our career," Yobo told KickOffNigeria.com. "When you get on the pitch, you can't think about anything apart from football.

"This money issue was there before the first match, it was there before we played Bosnia and it was there before we played Argentina and it did not distract us.

"We met with the officials before and also met with the Senate president and we agreed on some things before the competition started."

It took the intervention of President Goodluck Jonathan who assured the team late on Thursday evening that their bonuses will be paid to them.

Yobo expressed gratitude to President Jonathan for stepping in "The president called this morning and spoke to me and the coach, and I think that's a great feeling. Because we are representing our country and he is the leader of our country. It's a morale booster.
