Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has disclosed until there is an amendment to the constitution, state policing may not come to reality.

The vice president disclosed this at the weekend in Houston, Texas, while interacting with Nigerians living in the United States.

Osinbajo hinted that the Federal Government was working "to introduce community policing that would be in line with the constitution", saying

"the current situation where police activities are controlled at the federal level has some limitations."

He said community policing via state police was "indeed a cardinal program of the ruling APC", noting however that "the party agenda cannot be introduced until there is an amendment to the nation’s constitution."
