In honour of Pope Francis,Argentine football club San Lorenzo has announced they will name their new stadium after the Pontiff.
An avid football fan,Pope Francis has supported San Lorenzo since he was a boy,in fact he has been a dues-paying member of the club since his childhood.
San Lorenzo this week announced through its official Twitter page their decision to name the club after Pope Francis.
The new stadium will be built on a land seized from the Buenos Aires club in the late 70's.
Interestingly,since he became the Pope last year, San Lorenzo has won a local title as well as the South American Copa Libertadores club competition for the first time in their history.
