All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain in Bayelsa State, Chief Diekivie Ikiogha, has escaped assassination by the whiskers.

Ikiogha, a former governorship aspirant on the platform of the party in the 2015 governorship election, was said to have been attacked by five gunmen who broke into his house, in Yenagoa, on Monday.

Sources told NewTelegraph, that said the suspected assassins, who were armed with AK47 rifles, were able to enter his compound after scaling the high fence of his residence at Nikton Road, Kpansia.

Though Ikiogha was not at home when the gunmen came as he had travelled out of the state since Sunday, the gunmen were said to have seized his police guard’s rifle, tied him up before breaking into one of the rooms in the building.

One of the domestic staff, who declined to give his name, said the incident had been reported to the Police because the gunmen showed that they meant business.
