The management of troubled Nigerian Compass Newspapers has debunked the rumour that the newspaper has been bought by billionaire businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim.
The controversial billionaire was allegedly sighted at the premises of the newspaper on Tuesday, October 21, a development which was interpreted by some members of staff as signs of a possible takeover.
PREMIUM TIMES gathered that, in the last three years, the newspaper has faced financial challenges, including owing staff salary for close to two years – causing many staff to abandon the company.
