In a Wall Street Journal article published two days ago, President Goodluck Jonathan asked the USA to send troops to help fight the Islamic terror sect known as Boko Haram.

The President said: “Are they not fighting ISIS? Why can’t they come to Nigeria?”

The president is also quoted as saying that he has been asking Washington to send combat soldiers and military advisers into Nigeria to help with the Boko Haram situation since early 2014.

He further explained that Boko Haram itself was receiving training and funds from IS. It was shortly after his interview with American journalists that hundreds of the Boko Haram militants invaded Gombe state.

"When he assumed power, the Boko Haram terrorists fought with bows and arrows," a commentator said, "but today they fight with tanks and weapons stolen from the army."
