The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has stated that it will proceed with activities to recall Dino Melaye from the senate, as mandated by his Kogi West constituency.
This is despite a court order issued by the Abuja High Court for the commission to maintain a "status quo".

Rotimi Oyekanmi, media aide to the Chairman of the Commission, Mahmood Yakubu, said the commission will go ahead with the recall. According to him, INEC is yet to be served with the court papers putting the process on hold.
The order was made exparte; implying the order was given without hearing the other party, in this case INEC.
The court said it will hear arguments from both sides on September 29 while INEC scheduled the notice of verification would be posted at the commission’s constituency office in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital on July 10, which is two days from now.
