No fewer than six athletes passed out in some of their games at the ongoing 24th Nigerian University Games taking place in Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife.
According to The Punch Newspaper,a medical official, who was not authorised to speak disclosed that some athletes have fainted since the Games began last week.
One of the athletes,Ruth from Kogi State University fainted while competing in the female's 400 metre race,with her teammate attributing it to lack of strength and stamina.
There are reports that she complained about being weak before the race,but there was no replacement for her.
Speaking on what she ate for breakfast, after being revived by the Red Cross society: "Tea, tea and biscuit,” she muttered to the Punch.
Another athlete from the Federal University of Technology, Owerri fainted after losing his Judo match to an opponent from Obafemi Awolowo University.
