Politics Suleiman Hassan: Ex-CPC Chairman, Now Buhari's Ministerial Nominee

President Muhammadu Buhari has nominated Stephen Ocheni and Suleiman Hassan for consideration as Ministers, representing Kogi and Gombe states respectively. Buhari's letter on the nominees was read by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Wednesday.

Who is Suleiman Hassan? Here are few things about him.

1. Suleiman Hassan is a native of Gombe State, North eastern Nigeria.

2. Suleiman Hassan is the Chairman of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, Gombe State. In 2011, Mr. Buhari, contested for President on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change.

3. Before 2015 elections, Hassan declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will lose it reelection bid in the state by 2015, but was later won by Governor Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo of the PDP

4. He was among the 46 (non-career) Ambassadorial designate Buhari sent their names to the Senate in October 2016.

5. Alhaji Suleiman Hassan was in 2015 appointed Registrar of the Quantity Surveyors Council of Nigeria.

6. Hassan is to replace Mrs. Amina Mohammed, the former Minister for Environment who is now the Deputy Secretary General of United Nations.
