On Monday, former President Olusegun Obasanjo publicly destroyed his Peoples Democratic Party, PDP membership card and declared himself a 'statesman' no longer a 'partyman'.
PREMIUM TIMES reports that Obasanjo tore up the card just as the PDP were planning his expulsion. An expulsion would have meant that Obasanjo is no longer useful to the party but his voluntary withdrawal means he no longer has use for the party.
Over an hour after the Obasanjo news hit airwaves, the Ogun state chapter of the PDP tried to steal the narrative by claiming it had expelled the former President but that move yielded no positive result.
Even the PDP has been forced to acknowledge Obasanjo superior game by accepting defeat and wishing the forrmer president 'all the best' in his sojourn as a 'statesman'.
