Two children of a Mr. Nsikak Michael have been killed by a erosene explosion in Ikono Ibom Clan, Uyo LGA of Akwa Ibom state.
Three others were injured by the blast.
Mr. Michael, who operates a small poultry farm near his residence in Ikot Enyingne Ikono, was trying to light up a lantern to keep the birds warm in their cage when the explosion happened.
“I bought kerosene from a filling station along Idoro road as I closed from my Keke business.
"As I attempted to light up the lantern there was a loud explosion with a big flame of fire which left me unconscious.”
The Nation reports that one child died few hours after the explosion, while the other died the next day at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, UUTH, where he and his father were receiving treatment.
